Services
In addition to our Sails and Products, we also offer the following services:
|
We base the price of repair work on time and materials. The rate is $100 per hour. This time includes all inspection, sewing, and handwork finishing. New materials used are an extra charge. The cost of sail washing is based on cost per square foot.
We are happy to provide estimates on repair service (insurance losses) or sail evaluation services (boat purchases). Because of the time involved we do charge the $100 per hour fee.

Sail Repair
When we check and repair sails - we lay the sail out on the floor and check for holes, worn spots, and broken stitches. Pads, batten pickets, rings, slugs, slides and fittings are also inspected. Sewing is then done, followed by necessary finishing hardware and handwork.
If you request specific spot repairs or have us perform a general " look over" on the sail - we cannot guarantee all repairs will be done. |
Sail Washing
When we wash a sail - the sail is soaked in soapy water and hand washed with a soft brush which removes surface dirt and most stains. We rinse them thoroughly and hang them so they dry completely.
We cannot guarantee all stains will be removed. Some stains are very stubborn: mildew and stains that have existed for a long time. Polyester sailcloth will yellow with age so there isn't much that can be done to whiten the sail. We also wash and waterproof sailcovers, dodgers, and other boat covers. |
Used Sails Brokerage
We do have many used sails on the premises for sale. We take these on consignment for any period of time. We agree to list, show, and sell the sail for 25% of the sold price as commission.
We recommend that used sails be given a reasonable price - or they will not sell. We can help you determine a fair price for your used sail. Many used sails can be recut to fit similar size sail plans from one boat to another. In general, genoas and spinnakers are easier to sell. Recutting mainsails is typically more difficult and more expensive because batten pockets and hardware need to be repositioned. We keep a current list of used sails that we have in stock. Also available are some new stock sails for sale. |
